They Provide:
- Congregate Meals - One of the largest sites in Western Mass. and have 120-140 meals delivered to seniors homes via Meals-on-Wheels. Currently served @ the new Senior Center
- Food Programs: Brown bag for low to moderate income seniors. Share program - 2 hours of volunteering in town and $15, gets you $45 worth of groceries.
- Health Programs: Blood Pressure Clinics (six times a month); Flushot Clinics (650 shots this last year); Hearing Van (comes twice a year); Diabetic Screening (twice a month); Massage Therapy; Podiatric Nurse (twice a month); Relaxation Workshops; Tai Chi; Vission Screening (twice a year); and have an insurance representative to help untangle Medicare and private insurer problems.
- Youth Brigade: High School students willing to shovel snow for seniors call the Senior Center for a listing in your neighborhood.
- Trips: Radio City Music Hall, Cruises, Octoberfest, Murder Mystery Evening
- Volunteer Programs: Friends raise money for 650 members - through cookbooks, World War II books, Memorial books - raised $38,000 for a wheel chail accessable van
- Senior Van: will take you to doctor's and hair dresser's appointments, shopping, anywhere - call ahead as 24 hours notice is required for scheduling. There is no charge for this service it is provided on a donation basis (suggested donations are as follows: to Senior Center - 25¢ in town trips 50¢ out of town trips $1). There are regular van trips (see newsletter for dates and times) for shopping and excursions: The van provides 12,000 plus rides, for appertments, shopping, banking, work, and meal programs.
