On May 31-June 1, a mural was painted on 71-77 Cottage Street. (On the wall of Whiskerz Pub, facing the parking lot.) Some call it Art some Graffiti.
The Mural was designed by Tom Pappalardo of Standard Design who was selected as the winning artist through the Easthampton City Arts.
The mural was paid for by Massachusetts Lottery money set aside for the Arts as well as local matching funds (your tax dollars).
Many have asked is it Art or Graffiti? The discussion continues.
There are more mural projects planned for Easthampton. If you consider it to be graffiti, what can be done in the future to make sure that our city and our ever growing artistic community is represented in a fitting manner?
